Sick
Last Wednesday, I was hit with some kind of bug that still has not left me alone. I ran on Tuesday after class and it was terrible. I took yesterday off and spent the day with my bf and I want to go today but I am still not feeling it. I am going to go to kickboxing tonight and lift weights before hand so that might be a good thing. I don't know if I am going to be able to make it to my race now due to my illness. I want to still try because I only have 11 days left of training and 16 days until the race. I think I might be able to pull it off but who knows! Guess we will see how tonight goes and then go from there!

Oh hot damn!
After what I thought was allergies, I am not settling in to believe that I am actually sick with the common cold. I have not been sick in years and now I finally got sick. The good thing is that the only area that is effected is my head but my body is not sore (at least not yet). I took some good ol nasty nyquil last night and got a good nights rest.
In addition, I ran my 20 mins yesterday! It was a little difficult to do because I was chugging along not running very fast and it was a little painful. I want to go run today but we will see how I feel after class. I have to present a project today and I am so not looking forward to it. I was put into a group with three people that do nothing but slack! It is so annoying! Well off I go to start the day!

This weekend
I have not wrote in a couple days and figured its probably time. On Wednesday night, I woke up with an extremely bad sore throat and thought it was because I was sleeping with my mouth open. But it was not that reason more like ALLERGIES! I have never ever really suffered from allergies until this week. I don't get why or how it happened but I am in a lot of pain. I took some of Chad's nasal spray but I don't think that helped much. My face is kind of puffy and my whole sinus is miserable. I hate this! I think I will go to the doctors on Monday to see what they say. :(
I cleaned my closet out today and filled 5 trash bags full of stuff to donate. I think that as we move each time I obtain less and less stuff. I came across a pair of pants from high school/the time I moved out; I actually fit in them! I am very happy about that because that means that I am actually loosing weight! I meant to weight myself last week but some how forgot. Tuesday will be my weight in day and I am hoping for some positive results.
I ran everyday last week including Sunday except for Today (Saturday), Friday I took a weight lifting class and a semi boot camp class with my friend Amy. She made us run up the stairs at the parking garage it was a killer. I hate it with everything that I had. But it gave me some cardio that I was looking for. I am taking today off and am suppose to run with Chad tomorrow. We are going to go jog the GOTR park which will be a lot of fun! I am really excited!

Terrific Tuesday
Well what a day!!! I ended up finishing week 4 of C25K and I am SO happy! My other friend that is doing this app and I have been talking about how we are having pain in our legs. I thought that it would have been the opposite that I would have had a hard time breathing but nope my legs. Kerri another friend of mine suggested that I take longer strides on the treadmill and that totally helped. So not only was I able to run at a faster speed but my legs did not get as tired as fast. I think that I need to start running outside because I am kind of getting bored with running in the clubhouse. Or I need to get a new play list to workout to because my music is kind of boring me.
On week 5 day 3, I am suppose to jog for 20 mins straight! I am really nervous for this and think that I am going to hold off and do it on Saturday. Go to campus and run around like a mad woman in the early morning. I am getting excited about the GOTR and am really hoping that with the hard work and effort that I have been putting out that I will be able to do the June 5th race.
How could I forget to talk about this one issue in my blog: MY WEIGHT!
On Thursday I will step on the scale and see if any improvements have been made. I don't feel like there has been a lot of weight loss just more so on muscle gained. My cavs are getting huge so huge that I cannot fit in Capri pants! But hopefully I have lost some fat off my body! Lets just start praying. Although I have not changed my diet, I have realized that if I run at night I am not hungry at night and if I run in the morning I am not hungry. The other thing is that I am so not interested in sweets anymore...like many of you know I LOVE CANDY! But ever since this past week candy has not interested me. On Monday, I walked past a bowl full of peanut M&M's and today I bought candy at Freddies but no interest...its weird. Well off to make the bed then a bath to soak my legs :) Good night world!

Manic Monday
Its 7:43 AM and I am waiting for the club house to open at 8..there is always this man that runs right when the clubhouse opens and I am hoping that because I live closer I can get there faster. After running yesterday, I had no pain! I am so happy that shoes fixed my issue! A garden was planted for me yesterday by my boyfriend and that was a nice treat. Well I am off to stake the clubhouse and hopefully wont die running today!!!!!!

Weekend update
I spent Friday and Saturday with my mom and it was amazing. I cannot begin to tell you what an amazing mother that I have. Once I graduate from college, I cannot wait to be closer to her so that we can spend more time together. My mom was kind enough to take me shoe shopping and I got two pairs of New Balance shoes. One for running and the other for casual wear.
I went for a run today and it made the world's difference to have good shoes! I love them soooo much! 5 minutes was a lot harder to run than 3 minutes!

TGIF
My friend Katie wanted me to join her at Dixon today but I thought that I needed a break. My legs were killing me then I popped some ibuprofen and poof the pain went away. The last day of week 3 was a bit of a struggle for me...Not sure why that is but probably because I was a little tired or something. With 29 days left until Girls on The Run and 18 days left of training, I am getting a little bit nervous about not being able to run the race. Seems as though I am pushing it a little close but I guess my body will tell me when the race gets closer. I think that one of my many issues is that I do not have the proper shoes. I did buy running shoes but I think the fact that they are worn out and probably not in new condition is the issue that I am having shin splints. Seeing that I am doing everything that I can to treat them with medicine, stretching, elevation, and icing it is still not helping. Shoes seem to be the last thing on my list and seeing that I am going to be running outside for the race I should have the proper shoes.
Off to Eugene for the day with my Mom!

Thursday
Wow! What a day!!!! I decided to run 15 minutes after I ate a very spicy dinner. It was a great idea until I was experiencing extreme heartburn up and down my chest. Oh well w3 d2 done baby!!! My plan is to be done with week 3 by tomorrow (plus it will be a little bit easier if I let my food digest!). So my exam today was a painful experience....I felt it was terrible but I am hoping that I did okay!!! I studied as much as I could but it is what it is.
As the weekend approaches me, I need to fix my car. Chad took the part out that we believe is the issue so it will be off to Napa tomorrow to hopefully fix my little marsh mellow. Well, there are 7 minutes until 30 Rock starts and I am going to grab myself a bowl of ice cream :)

Wednesday!!!
I am almost close to my 3 day weekend!!!! I attempted to go running in the clubhouse but there is a man on it so I must wait. My plan today is to run off all the burgers and junk food that I failed to talk about in my last post. Read about Organizational Behavior while running to prepare for my quiz then take my quiz at noon. At 2 pm, drive to Salem and pray to the good lord that I do not get pulled over for my tail lights. Go to my interview and hopefully land a Summer job. Because as of right now MECOP is all screwed up and there are less positions than applicants; but they told us it was the opposite when we first interviewed. Then today it is going to be a CRAM session of BA 396....fun times cannot wait to complete them! Well, I am off to go scope out the mill and run my tater off.

So I ran for 3 minutes straight!!!! I am so proud of myself and although this is just a small milestone I know that it is helping me. Even though I have only ran 7 times since I started this app 2 weeks ago I feel better already. I have dropped a pant size and lost about 3 pounds (that was last Tuesday it maybe less despite those damn burgers). But the feeling of knowing that I am doing something good for my body makes me so happy. I never want to go back to where I use to be. I think that the other deep dark part of why I am doing this is because I have the baby bug. When I looked at myself weeks ago, I realized that if I was in the next couple years going to have a child that I had to get in shape. That I would only gain more weight during pregnancy and from what I have heard from numerous people is that its not easy to get it off. Well I better get back to the boring life of a college student and start studying although I don't want to!

I think that on Friday if it is not better than I will go to the doctor. I have tried everything from icing to not running but nothing is working. I think the fact that I cannot elevate or ice it ever is the issue. It is not like I can elevate my leg at the desk or ice it. I attempted to wrap the ice package in a towel around my leg but that did not work :( Alright back to studying BLAHHHHH

Tuesday
Well not a whole lot was done today in my life. We drove to Kent, Washington to pick up Chad's pontoon part and I was rather frustrated with the people we bought from. Not only did I have to deal with the man's whoremonger of a wife but I had to come face to face and see this woman. She was so ugly it made me want to puke; just think of a cross between a dirty whore and a roller derby girl...yeah not pretty. Plus her eye brows were seriously like 2 inches wide like they were painted on through microsoft paint!
We did look around at the Tacoma area and ruled it out of a place that we would move too. Although it was dead around 2:30ish - 3 PM the traffic around 5 pm was not delightful at all. It amazes me that they can put four lanes on a freeway and there is still traffic....people need to stop being mindless idiots and learn to plan ahead.
Seeing that I sat on my tater 99.5% of the day I did not get much running in. That means that I have to get up tomorrow at 7 AM take Chad to school then come back and go running at the clubhouse. Tomorrow is going to be an extremely eventful day, I have a quiz, an interview at Kohl's, and a midterm to study for. Long day/night ahead for me tomorrow but I think that it will be good....I can hopefully listen to my lecture on the drive to Salem and then come home and bust out the materials. Surprisingly I got a lot of studying done today in the truck but it was extremely uncomfortable. Well, good night world! Thanks for letting me go on about my nonsense and life itself :) Oh p.s. we come home from Washington and the light is on in my car. It amazes me that none of my heartless neighbors had the common sense to tell the club house my light was on.
What week 3 day 1 looks like:
Brisk 5 minute walk then do two repetitions of the following:
Jog 90 secs x 2
Walk 90 secs x 2
Jog 3 minutes x 2 (Oh boy!!!!!)
Walk 3 minutes x 2
Cool down with a 5 minute walk.

Completed Week 2
Today I actually attempted to run on a treadmill and it actually went well. Although I found myself bored out of my mind running inside, it did help me out with my shins. Seeing that I am now sun burnt that does not help either. I am done with week 2 and am now onto week 3. The intensity will increase but I know that I am ready for it. I was actually thinking about doing another run tonight if I am not beat. Seeing that my car is not working and I will have to miss Zumba & sculpt tonight will cause me to be behind in my workout.

I have officially decided that shin splints suck!!!!! Despite what everyone has told me about what to do nothing is working at all! I did take Saturday and Sunday off of running but still I feel like poop. I taped my legs and that did not seem to work. I must get back to studying for the time being now. :(

On April 24th, I bought the App C25K and started training that day. As many of you might know, this App trains you to run a 5K in nine weeks. I am trying to complete this by June 5th for the Girls on The Run 5K. My first day of running was not bad and the sun was actually shinning. I started with a 5 minute walk and then had to jog for 60 seconds and walk for 90 seconds after completing the so many sets I was instructed to then walk for 5 minutes.
The second day of training was a little brutal. My boyfriend went with me but we went running around out house which is on a hill. I strongly believe that this is where I got my shin splints from. The pain shocked me on Monday when I went to Zumba and was in a little pain. My friend instructed me to ice them and elevate them but I did not do that. On Tuesday, I ran again inside at Dixon but the pain started again. The pain feels as though my muscles are going to pop out of my leg!!! Ekkk!!
Thus, I took Wednesday off as I had a midterm on Thursday that I really had to study for and it was nice to have a day off. Again I made the mistake of not icing my legs again! On Thursday, I went running which was a new set of interval of 5 minutes of walking and then jogged for 90 seconds and walked for two. I had some pain at the beginning but then it decreased as I progressed.
Friday was my day off from school and I went running which was extremely painful. I then rode on the bike for 15 minutes, did some ab work, and then stretched out. After leaving the rec center, I was in a lot of pain. I did ice my legs finally but the pain is still here and I just want it to go away. I also tapped my legs last night while I was sleeping but that did not work too well. Was thinking about running today but I do not know if I should.....we will see! I would really like to get done with my second week of training though!
